Job Description:

Student Affairs IT (SAIT) invites applications for our Technical Services Manager (Computer Support Specialist I) is responsible for the day to day support and service provided to UM students and for the management of SAIT student technical staff. This position is responsible for managing day to day operation of SAIT service centers; hiring, supervising, training, leading, and supporting student technicians, coordinators, and interns; assessing, observing, recommending, and implementing changes to improve the TEC program and technical support; serving as a project leader and manager, supervisor, technician, and team member with role depending on task; and providing simple to advanced customer support and technical support for computer hardware, software, peripheral devices, and desktop systems by troubleshooting, interpreting, analyzing and resolving complex, multidimensional problems. This position is also responsible for managing daily phone support, including training, standardization of execution, and assessment (logged calls and satisfaction survey); working with other IT staff to maintain progress on SAIT trouble tickets, taking on work, delegating or escalating as appropriate; verifying through various mechanisms, including time clock review that TECs are maintaining their required appointments and in attendance during scheduled appointments and meetings; monitoring and managing the documentation system to ensure information is maintained appropriately; providing oversight of technology purchasing; ensuring accurate billing and solution documentation; and overseeing the payroll processing for student employees. This position is also responsible for collaborating with, and assisting the SAIT full-time staff in researching and presenting technology initiatives and advising on long-range objectives, future trends, and major campus technological shifts in direction and the potential business impact to clients; advising the Director of SAIT on the creation and implementation of office standards and assist in evolving practices as internal structure changes; meeting regularly with Tech Liaisons and attend departmental rounds with student staff occasionally to assist with difficult issues and to stay attuned to the current operations and needs of the departmental employees supported; working with student supervisory team to create and maintain the SAIT Office schedule and departmental schedule; managing and assist Coordinators with moderating weekly TEC Supervisory and TEC Staff meetings; and aiding the Directors of SAIT in the disciplinary process for student employees and help them correct poor performance. Required Skills * Ability to deliver exceptional customer service, be service oriented, forward-looking, and innovative. * Ability to use standard office and technical tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite; Network shares; Command line and console interaction; and Remote Desktop Connection and other remote computing tools. * Experience managing or supervising. * Demonstrated ability to self-organize and manage work time and multiple priorities. * Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in client needs as well as policies and procedures. * Extensive knowledge of operating systems and client devices: Windows; Mac OS; Desktops; Laptops; Tablets; and Smart Phones. * Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot end-user issues as well as back-end systems. * Communicate technical details effectively with lay users in person, over the phone, and in writing * Ability to understand clients' requirements and goals and translate those into functional business solutions. * Research skills to gather, analyze and organize information to generate meaningful solutions to complex problems. * Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and implement new technologies. * Ability to fully and effectively document implementations according to office standards. * Familiarity with support ticketing systems, such as Zendesk or Request Tracker. * Familiarity with task or project management tools, such as Basecamp, Trello, or Wrike. * Familiarity with system management and provisioning systems, such as Puppet, Deploy Studio, Landesk, Absolute Manage, or FOG. * Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations including HIPAA, FERPA, and other regulatory standards, such as PCI DSS. * Must be able to work at a computer workstation for extended hours. * Ability to occasionally work weekends, evenings, holidays and be on-call. * Ability to travel and to attend workshops, conferences, and other required continuing education and training. Minimum Required Experience * Experience to perform at this level is typically acquired with at least a High School diploma and two (2) years' experience supporting technology and business solutions including both user support and that of hardware and software, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Systems, or other related education and/or significant experience. * Possess knowledge, skills, and abilities required to serve as upper-tier support when issues are escalated. * Ability to Self-educate to improve knowledge of the technology, systems, procedures, and policies of SAIT in order to provide excellent support. * Familiarity with virtual computing environments including machine virtualization, as well as desktop and application virtualization. * Experience working with IT in a healthcare related environment. * Experience as an escalation point above base-level tech support. * CompTIA A+ and probably CompTIA Project+. * Cascade or other CMS familiarity for maintaining a web presence. Salary: $15.948/hr ? Current employee's rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and may be different from the posted salary.
