Respiratory Care Polysomnographic Technologist provides quality
diagnostic sleep services to patients of all ages, adjusting
approach to meet the age specific needs of assigned patients.
Responsible for calibration and quality control of diagnostic sleep
equipment. Assures that reports are accurate and ready for the
interpreting physician in a timely manner. Scores polysomnographic
recordings accurately and records pertinent technical notes to aid
the reading physicians in diagnosis of sleep disorders.
Participates in performance improvement activities as requested in
an effort to continually improve the quality of services offered.
The Respiratory Care Polysomnographic Technologist will be
responsible for performing Laboratory Polysomnograms for up to two
patients simultaneously in the Sleep Lab, located within the
Neurodiagnostic Department. Other duties will be assigned by the
Supervisor and/or Medical Director as the need arises. Reports to
Supervisor of Neurodiagnostics. Required qualifications:
- Coursework/Training graduate of a Respiratory Care Program RRT
or CRT
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the
following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association
(AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health
Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) - (Healthcare
Provider) upon hire.
- Need to attain registry from the BRPT (Board of Registered
Polysomnographic Technologists) or the SDS from the NBRC (National
Board of Respiratory Care) within a year from hire.
- State licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, RRT or
CRT
- Meet requirements for Certified Respiratory Technician (CRT or
RRT) Preferred qualifications:
- Polysomnogram Training Course
- Registry
- 2 years recent experience in the field of Sleep Study
