Associate Laboratory Assistant - Clinical Lab at Providence
Health and Services summary: The Associate Laboratory Assistant
supports clinical lab operations by performing phlebotomy, specimen
processing, and basic client service tasks while adhering to
established protocols. Competency in phlebotomy and specimen
processing is required within three months, with additional client
service competency expected within one year. The role involves
direct patient interaction and administrative duties in a hospital
setting focused on patient-centered care. Description The Lab Aide
I is responsible for completing and maintaining competency in
phlebotomy, specimen processing, and basic client service tasks. As
a phlebotomist, the expectation is to obtain blood samples from
patients in a timely manner while following proper collection
policy. Completion of phlebotomy competency will be required after
3 months of starting in this position. As a specimen processor, the
aide will ensure appropriate labeling has occurred and handle
specimen according to policy. Completion of Specimen processing
competency will be required after 3 months of starting in this
position.The basic client service tasks entail: requisition entry,
requisition checks, and filing. Completion of basic client service
competency will be required after 1 year of starting in this
position.The Lab Aide I will also perform other duties as assigned.
