Sr Manager, Epic Applications – Development in Missoula ,
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Manager, Epic
Applications - Development to one of the following locations:
Portland OR, Beaverton OR, Seattle WA, Renton WA, Everett WA,
Olympia WA, Spokane WA, Richland WA, Missoula MT, Anchorage AK,
Burbank CA, Anaheim CA, Torrance CA or Santa Rosa CA.
There are two primary areas of focus.
Manage a team of exceptional software engineers who do the
technical design and development of software that supports IS teams
within the Epic ecosystem. Team leverages modern software
development methodologies and technologies utilizing the full
Microsoft stack, and Epic Cache. Team also supports key enterprise
partners in their development of software intended for commercial
offerings. The team portfolio includes legacy clinical and
operational applications that require strategic deprecation, or
refactoring and a move to Azure. Manager must partner with software
engineers to work in tandem with product owners and focus on
regular delivery within an Agile process as the team simultaneously
moves to adopt Azure DevOps, PowerBI, and automation engineering
solutions. Manager allows collaboration to define the product needs
Manage a team of high performing Epic Environment Release and
Data Courier administrators. Group is accountable for release
management best practice, change control, environment upgrades,
go-live support, downtime support, data migrations, auditing and
environment governance. Works closely with all Epic application
teams, cache DBAs, access management, auditors, and vendors to
ensure environment integrity.
In this position you will have the following
Maintain relationships with key business partners and other
senior leaders, as well as key contacts in the IT industry in order
to leverage best practices, and to evaluate and manage emerging
Support appropriate service delivery models for core application
functions by supporting the defining, delivering and improving
services for the enterprise and its caregivers.
Ensure that the applications division supports IS services and
systems effectively, and partners with business and clinical
leadership to drive and meet organizational objectives. Leadership
role in ensuring these objectives are on track and being met.
Manage customer expectations regarding the success of
Information Services strategies and projects; ensures measurable
outcomes are defined and reported for each strategy or project.
Responsible for working with key stakeholders including
executives, senior leaders, and a variety of customers to identify,
oversee, and deliver technical solutions that are effective and
user-friendly, and support strategic initiatives, business and
Ensure the performance of applications and evaluates the
performance of services on the basis of specific KPIs.
Manage budgeting and expenditures for applications, staff and
services within a defined span of control. Supports development of
budgets in partnership with Director, Executive Director or Vice
President to achieve IS financial targets.
Direct and oversee compliance with policies and procedures for
applications that impact all of PSJH.
Attract, hire, train, motivate, retain, and develop a team of
first-rate professionals to perform the responsibilities of

Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management,
Information Services or an equivalent combination of education,
skills and relevant experience.
6 years leadership experience
3 years of experience working in an Epic environment
2 years of leadership in an Epic environment
8 years of Healthcare or Information Services experience
Demonstrated analytical skills
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
Builds and manages effective teams
Ability to influence internal/external constituents
Ability to drive multiple projects to completion
Epic Certification within 90 days upon hire
• Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative team.
