Do not apply through or use easy apply through .The Office of Research and Creative Scholarship invites applications for a Budget Analyst III to oversee:Grant Support:This position provides comprehensive support for federal and private grants management for individuals submitting grant proposals through the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship (ORCS). This individual will work with centers that report up to ORCS. They will accurately conduct reasoning, interpretation and accounting/budgeting information using spreadsheets, and reports.This includes, but isn't limited to:Reviewing grant budgets, assisting with the preparation of grant budgets, and working with the Principal Investigator (PI) throughout the life cycle of the grant.Reviewing grant expenditures and ensuring expenses are within budget and grant guidelines.Preparing contracts like Letters of Appointment, Graduate Student contracts, faculty contract adjustments and staff compensation instructions based upon project needs and coordination with the employee's academic department. This must be done in concert with the Budget Director.The position shall establish and maintain productive working relationships and act as a liaison for, positively representing ORCS through effective interaction with the public, the sponsored programs office, academic departments, campus administrators, faculty, staff and students.Financial & Administrative Support:The individual in this position is responsible for, but not limited to:Accurate completion of personnel forms, either in U-Approve or in paper format if the form isn't available in U-Approve or EPAF.Processing payroll via Griz Time Online (GTO) for staff and students.Redistributing and reconciling University of Montana credit cards (pro card).Procurement transactions and invoices will be processed and submitted into GrizMart.Position may have approval authority depending on the level of transaction.Assisting in completing accurate Request and Authorization to Travel forms and Travel Expense Reports for travelers within ORCS.Depositing to UM Treasury for various debts that may come in.Lab Animal Resources support and billing.UM Foundation reimbursements, when needed.This individual will work in a campus office environment with three other staff members and the Vice President of ORCS and the Associate Vice President of Research for Global Change & Sustainability.This position requires incumbent to develop a working knowledge of the Cayuse grants management system.Required Skills:Proficiency with Microsoft programs like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Demonstrated competence in completing multiple complex tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to organize and prioritize work with multiple deadlines while also paying attention to detail.Knowledge of grant funding, grant rules and grant guidelines from both federal and private sponsors.Knowledge of financial management and spreadsheets.Ability to course correct any budget or expense items that fall outside of the grant parameters.Professional written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Minimum Required Experience:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and two (2) years prior experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of the University of Montana financial systems.About the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship and UM:UM's Office of Research and Creative Scholarship supports research-driven student success through fostering an environment where research, scholarly activities, entrepreneurship and economic development thrive and advance the educational and research mission of the university.The University of Montana is flagship, research institution with approximately 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
